Bugs Art Project

In Art we have been working with a trainee teacher, Miss Egan.  She introduced us to a project about bugs.  We looked at  pictures of bugs and tried to draw them.  We then used the drawings to design our own bug headpieces or masks.

We were given cardboard to make a 3-D model of our design and were shown how to bend the corrugated card to create a headpiece.  We then added eyes, noses, teeth and antennas using card, egg boxes, yoghurt pots and other unusual items.  To make our models hard and sturdy we covered them in a layer of cum tape.

Then we moved onto the really fun part – PAINTING!!  We used acrylic paint to mix vibrant colours but we had to be careful not to get it on our clothes.

I added detail to mine by sticking red and cold collage materials onto the face. 
It was a great project and we really enjoyed working with Miss Egan.
