France Trip
Study Visit to France July 4th-8th 2005
42 pupils accompanied by 4 staff went on the annual study visit to France recently, staying at the Chateau du Tertre, which was situated near Ambrieres Les Vallees in southern Normandy.
After breakfast each day, the pupils had a language lesson and visited local towns where they carried out a variety of language-related tasks, one of which was to buy their lunch from a market while working in small teams. On returning to the Chateau each team then had 20 minutes in whih to prepare and present their starter, amin caurse and dessert just like "Ready, Steady, Cook!" The very impressive results were judged by the staff at the chateau on standards of quality, healthy eating and value for money. Overall, the pupils made great gains, not just in understanding French langauge, culture and food, but also in terms of personal skills such as self-confidence, independence, decision-making and teamwork. Plans are already in place for next years's trip.
