Building Schools for the Future Update: April 2008

Dear Parents/Guardians

I am writing to let you know that the statutory period of consultation regarding the proposed closure of Fairfield High School has now ended and Halton Council will now have time to consider all responses before the Executive Committee make their decision on May 19th 2008.
The Governing Body of Fairfield High did respond to the consultation before the deadline on April 3rd and we again argued a case for retaining Fairfield High School as a fourth secondary school for Widnes .  We also made it clear that we are willing to consider any options regarding school reorganisation that would retain our current site as an educational facility for the town. 
The Governing Body of the school would like to thank all parents and friends of Fairfield High School who have campaigned actively on our behalf.  We have had many messages of support and many people have responded in writing to the consultation
In the meantime, the school will continue to plan for the future and we will seek to sustain the excellent progress made over the past few years in raising standards.
